Aftercare instructions

At Microblading Charleston, we want you to have the best results possible but that is going to require your help. Aftercare is very important and results will reflect how well you take care of your brows during your healing phase and for the months to follow.

Aftercare instructions will be provided to you at your appointment.  Each individual requires a customized healing method based off of their skin type.

avoid the following for 7 days after procedure:

  • Swimming or immersing in water; this will flush the ink out, resulting in less pigment retention.

  • Use of a sauna, hot bath/shower or jacuzzi.

  • No exercise/sweating, which will cause the ink to be pushed out or blur.

  • Sun-bathing; natural or tanning beds.

  • Picking, peeling or scratching scabs, which can result in scarring and loss of pigment.

  • Lotion, soap or makeup around your brow area/forehead.

  • Sleeping face down or on side, which can result in rubbing pigment off.

  • Lasers, Chemical Peels, Retin-A or Glycolic Acid (must always be avoided on brow area).

Post Procedure Tips:

  • Keep a towel close to shower to pat brows dry during shower

  • In the shower lean your head far back and cover your brows with your hand when rinsing your hair.

  • Wash bottom of face in sink and top of face near brows with a washcloth.

  • Drinking alcohol may lead to slow healing of wounds.

  • After completely healed, apply sunscreen. Sun exposure will make the pigment fade faster.

what to expect during the healing process:

Expect to see your new eyebrows go through several phases during the healing process, which takes a full 4 weeks. Immediately after the procedure the color will look natural and your brows will appear more defined than the final results. It is normal to be red and swollen.

Days 1-3: Expect the pigment to darken. They will not stay this way.

Days 4-7: The skin will naturally exfoliate causing the brows to be much softer and significantly lighter.

Days 6-14: Brows may become dry and flaky, leaving them patchy and uneven. DO NOT remove flakes.

Your skin will form a protective barrier over your brows causing the them to look blurry and lighter; this is normal. Pigment takes 4 weeks to pull through and you will not know your final results until then. Microblading is a two step process and every client is required to come back in 4-6 weeks. Do not expect to love your new brows until your touch up!
